Day 5 Williamstown MA Saturday

Yesterday we made our Walmart run and spent some time getting lost in Williamstown.  Lots of churches with very tall steeples, vibrant downtown. This time of year is "Theatre" season with plays taking place all over the region. We are hoping to see "Three Hotels" staring Maura Tierney and Steven Weber at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Friday evening we attended a BBQ at the Sanns', met the bride to be and her family. We do not get to see Barbara's cousins very often, but always have a great time when we do. Their home is in a beautiful setting with panoramic view of the mountains, reminding us of Denver.

Lots of rain last evening. Today's high of 80 and low of 60!

Here are some pics

Tonight is the "formal dinner"

We were headed into Bennington Vt to do some site seeing when a warning light on our dash lit up and the heat gauge went to max.  We were able to get to a parking lot, called AAA for a tow.  Since they did not have a shop open on Saturday we asked them to take up back to the campground.

We asked our Fern if she knew a local mechanic and she suggested Rons Garage  in Williamstown.  Soon he arrived with his tow truck, checked out the car and told us we needed new water pump, would order and have the car ASAP.  Given it was already mid afternoon Saturday, we assumed we would have car back Tuesday.  Saturday night at 8PM Ron calls me to say the car was ready.  Sunday morning he drove it up to the campground and I took him back.

He had picked up the new pump, and installed it, working till 8PM Sat night.

When he presented the bill to me he said "you might want to sit down".  Told me that he had to charge extra explaining that, because of the bad economy he does work for locals at below cost, “someone has to make that up or I would go out of business. I was happy to give him more. When I got back to Charlotte I checked with the dealer, turns out he charged me less than what it would have cost near home.

We chatted for about an hour, he is very friendly, and I took off "home".

I was blown away!  My thanks to Ronnie, if you are ever stuck in Williamstown give him a call and tell him Bob (the blue jeep)  sent you.
